With Dementia care it might be said that there is a case for more 24 hr care in a secure environment not less. The answer we are given  is that care and nursing homes can provide this service. rather  than hospitals. There is much truth in the impossibility of providing sufficient  hospital  beds for the many thousands of  dementia patients but....  MORE.

Dying with Care.... A luxury  Many Cannot Afford.

Community Care Funding

The impact of Government funding cuts to Local Authorities is being felt in many areas particularly with provision of  community servces. This is clearly  shown in Mencap's report on  Day Services.Where

In the past three years, almost 1 in 3 (32%) local authorities have closed day services.

1 in 5 (20%) of these did not say they have provided replacement services. Over half (57%) of people with a learning disability who are known to social services no longer receive any day service provision whatsoever (compared to 48% in 2009/10).

The Cost of Dying: USA Style

Read this story about  how  private health care costs can spiral with this 'bill' coming in at  $323,658. 'Itemisation' of  course is a standard way  in which private companies can conceal real costs and also inflate  the final bill- as we all know from   experience with companies from mobile phones to airfares.care like

As the UK debate on how to pay for care and privatisation  of the NHS continues it does to  cast an eye across the Atlantic and measure how  costs can increase  dramatically with privatisation. Talk of 'ceilings' can eventually become meaningless. When reading  the  story it does to recall that the average USA income is less than in England
